To golf fans, it's simply known as "The Concession." On the 18th hole with the deciding point on the line during the 1969 Ryder Cup, Jack Nicklaus graciously conceded a short putt by picking up Tony Jacklin's ball marker. This ended the 1969 Ryder Cup in a stalemate, which reportedly made American Captain Sam Snead livid. But Snead's competitive drive overlooked an important point - that Jack Nicklaus' gesture would become more iconic than whatever result would have occurred whether Jacklin's putt had gone in or not.
