Gorgeous original painting of Phil Mickelson blasting out of a bunker by celebrated artist Reza Safa. Safa used a blend of oil and acrylic to create this stunning painting. 32" x 18". Safa's prints of this painting are quite popular, but this is the actual original oil & acrylic painting upon which those prints are based.
I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. I left Iran right after High School and attended College in Houston, Texas. I grew up in an artsy family. My father was a poet and an author. I began painting and Persian calligraphy at the age of nine. I studied Persian calligraphy under a master calligrapher. Learning the harmony of lines in the art of calligraphy gave me the ground for my unique style of impressionism - a combination of lines, brush strokes, and the use of bold colors, as well as harmony between oil and acrylic paint in a single painting. Contrary to the old master impressionists who used overall visual effects instead of details, and short "broken" brush strokes of pure unmixed color— I love to shade and blend some areas in oil, yet other areas of a painting in intense Acrylic colors to achieve the intense visual color vibration. A painting must be alive, it must make you feel something. My challenge is to capture the emotion of each piece that has its own light. Life has light, and that is what I strive to achieve in my paintings - to capture the light unique to each piece!
