In the mid-1990s, Past PGA of America President Mickey Powell had a great idea - to create a limited edition poster featuring every Ryder Cup Captain in history - and to have it autographed by every living Captain. Pulling this feat off, however, proved quite daunting. So Mickey contacted all 15 living Ryder Cup Captains, and over a period of many months kept sending and receiving this poster to each Captain - always using the same mailing tube.
That dedication resulted in this extraordinary Ryder Cup Captain signed poster. It is autographed by 14 of the 15 Ryder Cup Captains that were alive, including Jack Nicklaus, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Dave Marr, and Arnold Palmer. The only autograph missing is Ben Hogan. Ben Hogan, who was infamously difficult to deal with at time, shipped the poster back without autographing it. You can see Ben Hogan's return address on the mailing tube!
This original autographed poster was then used by Mickey Powell and the PGA of America to produce dozens of facsimiles. But offered here is a true original that was so painstakingly assembled in the mid-90s.

Mickey Powell Collection
The offered item in this lot comes from the Estate of former PGA of America President Mickey Powell. Long before Powell spent more than 55 years in professional golf, he began as a 13 year old caddie at the Country Club of Indianapolis. His first-ever loop was for a couple named Pete and Alice Dye, who went on to become a driving force in golf course design. Powell is credited with setting the Ryder Cup on its path towards increased prominence when he convinced his friend Jack Nicklaus to return as Captain for the 1987 Ryder Cup at his home course Muirfield Village. Mickey Powell was an avid collector throughout his life - baseball cards, coins, and, yes, golf memorabilia. We considered Mickey Powell a friend, and his passion for the game of golf was unmatched. We are excited to place pieces of his collection into the hands of collectors across the globe.
