In the late 1800s and early 1900s, golf themed walking sticks were extremely popular. These walking sticks were also called Sunday sticks or Sabbath sticks, and were supposedly the golf enthusiasts' answer to the Church of Scotland discouraging golf on Sundays. So essentially, these Sabbath sticks were golf clubs disguised as walking sticks: the small club head comfortably fitting in the palm of the golfer's hand, until feeling unobserved, the stick then reversed and a few practice putts were played.

All golf club Sunday sticks are highly collectible, but offered here is unquestionably one of the finest. This is an original early 1900s Tom Morris Sunday stick. This 33" "club" has a beautiful script "Tom Morris, St Andrews" crown stamp.
