Tiger Woods is not only perhaps the greatest golfer to walk to earth, he is also among the most private. Getting quality, non-autograph, pieces of memorabilia related to Tiger has been a daunting, and frequently fruitless, task since we started our auction 16 years ago in 2006.

Well here it is. After countless hours of researching, searching, planning, and pleading, we have an auction with not one, but two of Tiger Woods' personal red dot Scotty Cameron putters. We are truly overwhelmed to offer this putter that was made for Tiger Woods himself, but has never seen the light of day until now...

This Scotty Cameron Newport II Tour putter is made with SSS and has a high buff finish. Stamped "Tiger Woods" on the bumpers, and "Tiger" on the face. According to the Certificate of Authenticity from Scotty, this putter was "Made for Tiger Woods." According to a handwritten note from Scotty Cameron, this putter was acquired ("won") by a collector (presumably at an auction or some sort of giveaway) at a 1999 "Scotty Cameron Day" Event.

The fact that this Tiger Woods red dot Scotty Cameron putter was produced in 1999 is quite significant, as that is the exact same year that Scotty Cameron first had the idea for the red dot on Tiger's original - when he was trying to remove weight from the cavity. This 1999 red dot putter is almost certainly the earliest such example to reach the auction block. It is also interesting that the putter has a different finish than Tiger's gamer. Little did Scotty Cameron know that despite his frequent experimenting, Tiger would not stop using the first red dot player for years to come.
