This is a rare 1951 Masters Contestant's Medal and Presentation Box. Participants in the '51 Masters, as well as officials and other notables, were given a bronze medal inlaid in a wood box/humidor. This particular box was issued to 1951 Masters participant Raymond Gafford in a year won by the great Ben Hogan in an emotional Masters Tournament. The box remains in very good condition, despite the fact that it is over 70 years old and comes from one of the most famous Masters Tournaments in history.
Only 64 golfers competed in the 1951 Masters Tournament, including the original recipient of this box, Raymond Gafford, who finished 44th.
