Offered here is a circa 1907 Brewster patent "Simplex" patent aluminum, gunmetal, and wood crosshead club. According to Jeff Ellis, "Sadly, the head still proved to be too radical a departure for most golfers and never caught on."
This club originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and was featured in his books, The Golf Club (p. 97) and The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 206; TCA 2, pp. 242). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
