Offered here is a circa 1898 Spalding One-Piece Driver. The jointless head and shaft are made from one piece of wood. According to Jeff Ellis, "Spalding listed one-piece clubs only in their 1898 catalog, which is why only a handful of this type of club are known." Excellent condition. 

This club originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and this exact club was featured in his books The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 146; TCA 2, p. 169). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
