Offered here is the iconic 1930s Penfold Man Advertising figure.  The first thing that strikes everyone who sees this piece for the first time is just how large it is; the “Penfold Man” stands 21” tall and is up to 8 1/2” wide. The offered example is exceptional. It is in remarkable condition. This is a very hard to find early, 1st generation Penfold man. These early ones had a weakness around the ankles so the design was later changed so that there was no gap between the legs to make them more sturdier. This is one of the rare early examples, which contains the weakness around the ankles but it is still sturdy enough to display well.
