We are huge believers in the future of PSA encapsulated golf memorabilia. The rest of the sports collecting world has long been appreciating PSA authenticated and "slabbed" items, but the golf world has lagged behind. We hope that this "Modern Collector" auction will help shine light on some items that we believe will play an important role in the next generation of golf collecting.
Offered here is one of the most important golf tickets in history - a full week ticket/badge to the 1930 US Amateur - when Bobby Jones completed the Grand Slam at Merion. Tickets from the 1930 US Amateur are truly scarce. Including daily tickets, we've sold 3 examples in our 17 year history. The PSA population report reveals similar numbers - 2 weekly tickets (including the offered ticket) and 2 other daily tickets (including at least 1 of the 3 that Golden Age previously sold). Of those scant few, this is the highest grade and finest example of a 1930 US Amateur ticket in existence.
This ticket originates from the Estate of Chuck Kocsis, who beat Francis Ouimet in the First Round.
