Offered here is a circa 1894 Jacques & Son Center-Shafted "Fife" Driver with Patent "Corkie" grip. Overall very good condition. Cork grips were promoted as being better than traditional leather grips in wet conditions. Cork grips were a short-lived invention, however, as they were not durable. According to Jeff Ellis in The Clubmaker's Art, this is the only example of its kind known to exist.
