This is an early 1900s "J. MacGregor" gunmetal putter with an unusual center flange. This putter was produced by MacGregor, and the shaft is stamped "Made By The Crawford McGregor & Canby Co Dayton Ohio." Interestingly, many believe that "J. MacGregor" was a fictitious name. The sporting goods company had already changed its name from "McGregor" to "MacGregor" to appear more Scottish, and clubs stamped "J. MacGregor" were likely an attempt to make these golf clubs seem "more Scottish."
