We long believed that a pairings sheet from the inaugural 1934 Masters Tournament did not exist. Masters Tournament supercollector Dr. Stephen Pyles was convinced as such. He's one of the only men to ever assemble a complete collection of Masters tickets/badges dating to 1934, and owns pairings sheets from almost all early Masters Tournaments. But 1934? He's never seen one. Over the years, 3 Series tickets from the 1934 Masters Tournaments have surfaced, and a small handful of daily tickets. But not a single pairings sheet from 1934.
Then something special happened. We received a call from a woman with an original Program from the 1934 Masters Tournament (also offered in this auction!). She mentioned there was also a loose sheet inside the program. We honestly didn't think much of it until the '34 Program arrived - complete with the only-known pairings sheet from the first-ever Masters Tournament.
This pairings sheet from Friday of the 1934 Masters Tournament was nearly perfectly preserved inside that program for the past 89 years. The pairings sheet shows Bobby Jones' 1:33p tee time, as well as eventual Masters Champ Horton Smith at 11:10a, Walter Hagen at 10:28a, and many others.
8" x 10 1/2", very good condition.
