Offered here is one of the finest, and surely most valuable, golf photographs in the world. This original 1931 PSA Type 1 photograph depicts Bobby Jones inspecting the construction of Augusta National Golf Club. Jones is the sole person in the photo, and is only 28 years old as he surveys the horse-drawn construction of his dream course. Jones looks regal in this photo, with what appears to be the rolled design plans for Augusta National under his left arm.
This image was taken the same day as the famous image of Bobby Jones and engineer Wendell Miller looking at the plans together at the construction site on January 5, 1931. The construction plans from that photo are likely the same plans tucked under Bobby Jones' left arm in this iconic photograph. Even more impressively, this actual photograph was personally owned by Wendell Miller and comes with a letter of authenticity from his son, Wendell S. Miller.
Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA, which has confirmed that this photo is a rare Type 1 - from the original negative at the time it was taken. 8" x 10".
