Offered here is Walter Hagen's Patek Philippe pocket watch awarded to him for winning the 1914 US Open. The 1914 US Open was the 21 year old Walter Hagen's 1st Major Championship victory, of an eventual 11 total.

This stunning 18k gold Patek Philippe watch is engraved:

Walter C. Hagen
Open Golf Champion
1914
From
Country Club
Of Rochester

The 21 year old Hagen had planned on focusing on baseball in 1914, and had no intention of entering the 1914 US Open. It was only until a local Rochester, NY businessman offered to bankroll Hagen's entire trip that Hagen changed his mind and entered the tournament.

The 1914 US Open was also the scene where Hagen brazenly entered the clubhouse at Midlothian Country Club to mingle with the wealthy members - a serious faux pas for a lowly "professional" during that era.

Watch details: Patek Philippe, 18k gold, 1 5/8" diameter. Open face, bassine-style. Enamel dial with roman numerals. Excellent condition.

Letter of Authenticity and Provenance from Patek Philippe

Additional Note: The USGA Museum helped us track down an original 1914 Buffalo Evening News Newspaper Account of Walter Hagen receiving this exact watch following his 1914 US Open triumph! What a remarkable find. We have added a screen shot of this newspaper account to the photos.
