This is a high grade copy of the 1899 Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. This is the second set of rules published by the R&A intended for the worldwide golf community (the first was published in 1891). Prior to this, the R&A rules were published only for the club, and other clubs devised their own rules loosely based on the R&A rules. This 1899 copy represents one of the earliest examples of a global rule set for the game of golf.
Published by R&R Clark of Edinburgh, this small red booklet (4 5/8" x 3 1/8") is in superb condition, and is housed in a modern clamshell case with velvet interior.
