This is a set of hickory shafted "Kro Face" fancy face woods by Spalding. Though Spalding used this iconic "Kro Face" insert for many years, in onl the earliest years (1927-1929) were these fancy face clubs produced by Spalding with hickory shafts. All other offerings were with steel shafts - making the offered set much more desirable to collectors.  

These club originate from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and these exact clubs were featured in his book The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 2, p. 412). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection. Included with these clubs is a Jeff Ellis autographed page #412 from The Clubmaker's Art. Included here are 1, 2, and 3 woods. Fine condition.
