To play or display! This is a vintage set of Robert Forgan smooth face clubs from approximately 1860s-1870s. Included in this set is a long nose Forgan play club (driver), and 5 irons. In the 19th century, this set of 6 clubs would have comprised a gentleman's complete set of playing instruments. All included clubs are in very good to excellent condition, and could be played to this day. The grips are vintage and fully intact. The play club exhibits evidence of having been played, but remains in wonderful condition. It bears the Prince of Wales plume and a very strong Forgan mark on the crown of the head. The irons are comprised of a Cleek, Iron, Lofter, Rut Niblick, and Putter. All exhibit deep nicking, 4 1/2" hosels, and "R. Forgan & Son St Andrews" stampings. They are missing the Prince of Wales plume, which may indicate they predate the Royal appointment in 1863. Included with this set is a nice vintage leather carry bag from a later period.

1 long nose with thistle, 2 long irons, 1 more mid iron, 1 rut iron, 1 putter. All smooth face, all in very good condition with fresh whipping and grips. Includes a Leather bag embossed “The Burke Golf Company Newark, Ohio”
