Offered here is a rare "reject" iron from famed clubmaker Tom Stewart of St Andrews. It is our understanding that the "X" marks covering the maker's marks on the clubhead were intended to "cancel" this iron as an unworthy reject. Tom Stewart clubs were, and still are to this day, known the world over for their quality. Needless to say, reject clubs were never supposed to leave Tom Stewart's shop. But for some reason, this reject Tom Stewart iron did exactly that approximately 100 years ago.
