Offered here is a circa 1914 Gibson patent "Princeps, Holdfast" putter. Smooth-faced iron putter with an offset blade. The putter was designed to impart topspin on the ball. Overall very good condition with a minor area of damage to the hickory shaft and some tape repairs to the grip. 

This club originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and this exact club was featured in his books The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 455; TCA 2, p. 579). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
