For Bernard Darwin fans, the release of this book was a momentous occasion. Back in 1913, The Times of London planned to publish six small books on a diverse range of topics in what was called The Times Series. Five books including Bernard Darwin's A Dickens Pilgrimage were published. The sixth book, advertised as The Riviera Golf Courses, was to contain a series of Darwin's articles from The Times written during a 1913 trip with his wife Elinor to the French Riviera. However, most likely due to the outbreak of World War I, this final book of the series was never published.
A few years ago, this "long lost" Darwin book was finally published for the first time. Only 200 copies were produced in this Limited Edition - brilliantly done in a similar style to A Dickens Pilgrimage. This is one of those rare copies of The Riviera Golf Courses by Bernard Darwin. The book is # 127 of 200. It is autographed by the editor Neil Crafter and the publisher Dick Verinder. 2015 printing. 59 pages.
