For the first 2 rounds, an amateur named Phil Mickelson was paired with the most famous athlete in the world - Michael Jordan. That's right, Michael Jordan was granted a controversial invitational to make his amateur tournament debut at the 1991 Western Amateur - less than 2 months after leading the Chicago Bulls to its first NBA title.
