Offered here is an early Scotty Cameron pre-Titleist Mizuno X'd out putter. We gotta give Vog a crack at this one.

From Vog: Wow, what a piece of history. A Mizuno era, either 1992 or 1993 tour putter. Similar to the Mizuno M-200 "OTR" this one is a bit different. Maybe a lot of different. First the obvious: It does not have any of the normal engraving of this OTR model on the sole-"The Reason" M-200 and Mizuno. Early in his career Scotty often had heads that were in various stages of finish. This one has the "By Scotty Cameron" engraving on the face and nothing else. Next, there is a hand stamped oval site dot on top. Next, the handstamped S.C. and the white (!) dot on the back. Most people know that Scotty started doing red dots on Tiger's original GSS in 1999; what they don't know is he was experimenting with white dots for his tour putters back in 1992 for visibility purposes on TV pre-high def picture! This is one of less than 10 white dot Mizuno putters I have seen in 32 years of collecting. Next up, the Mizuno stamp on the back that has been X'd out! Explanation: this was a putter Scotty made for the tour. It was stamped Mizuno for survey purposes on tour so Mizuno would get credit for one of their/his putters being used. But Scotty left Mizuno after the 93 Masters, and this putter must have come back to him after he left the company. So what did he do? He obliterated the name, no need for Mizuno to get credit after the fact! I think I have seen this on only one other putter-the actual putter Langer used to win the 93 Masters. The not so obvious-Scotty did some tweaking to the head. See the "BY" on the face? On the stock model there is more room between the top of the BY and the topline. Translation? Scotty worked down the topline removing metal to create a lighter, more sleek design. He also looks to have rounded the sole out a bit as there is more curve to the toe profile of the head. Subtle differences I see because I've seen hundreds of these stock heads and a handful of these tweaked models for the tour.

This is one of my favorites in the auction! It tells an amazing story from Scotty's early career.

35.5" long, condition is 8.0/10 with wear to the finish on the sole.
