This circa 1875 John Gray cleek has an entirely hand-forged wrought iron head with a 4 3/4" long hosel. The 39 1/2" shaft is a replacement.  The old sheepskin grip is distressed and has a single wrap  scotch tape around its middle. The "Jn. Gray" stamp on the back of the blade is still deep and strong.

Located in Prestwick, John Gray was one of the first blacksmiths to mark his name on the irons he made. Once he began to make golf clubs, Gray quickly became regarded as a cleekmaker of the highest caliber, and remains so today.
