In 1900, Harry Vardon became affiliated with A.G. Spalding & Bros. He played a number of exhibition matches across America and endorsed their equipment. The circa 1900 brassie offered here is evidence of that association. The crown is stamped "A.G. Spalding & Bro Makers" and "H. Vardon" in an oval on the head. The original leather face insert is held in place with five wood dowels. The club still has its original neck whipping and a 41-inch slice-neck shaft stamped "Harry Vardon" in script. It features a full brass sole plate, and the old leather wrap grip is a period replacement.
