Offered here is an incredible set of custom made MacGregor Toney Penna TP VIP 67 irons, 2-iron through sand wedge. Made in 1967, the heads have MacGregor's Tone Flame ceramic treatment face pattern as found on the MT irons of 1966 & 67. In addition, the backs of the blades have an unusual muscle back that is not found on any MacGregor proline clubs, which these are. The shafts and leather wrap grips are original. The 2-iron measures 38 inches. The serial numbers have worn off most of the ferrules, if they were ever there to begin with. The set has been used, but remains in great condition.

Toney Penna was the storied professional who worked joined MacGregor in 1841 and worked much of his career designing and building clubs for MacGregor before he left to start his own company.  Penna played a key role in the company's success during his time there,  He created some of MacGregors best designs and was crucial to convincing such players as Ben Hogan to sign an endorsement deal with MacGregor.  Penna's custom made MacGregor clubs that never made it to retail will always have important historical value, as will his more distinctive production models.  Without a doubt, Toney Penna was one of the 20th century's most important clubmakers.

If you want only the rarest of classic clubs that posses great beauty and historic names, this set qualifies!  I know of no other Toney Penna TP VIP 67 Irons. I believe more than one set was made, but who knows where any more are today?
