This is an extremely rare special-order set of Macgregor Toney Penna VIP TP63 iron - 3-9 & Penna Wedge - with dot-punched pyramid scoring bordered by copper line-scored faces. All irons have their original MacGregor leather wrap grips and Propel Action 1 stiff shafts. All clubs are in outstanding condition.

Toney Penna began working lor MacGregor in 1934. In 1937 he signed Byron Nelson, Jimmy Demaret, and Ben Hogan as staff pros for MacGregor. Penna later became MacGregor's chief club designer and was responsible for much of what made the MacGregor clubs of the 1940s, '50s, and '60s the great clubs they proved to be.

MacGregor Penna TP63 irons were produced in 1963, but not listed in any retail catalogs. Today, they are considered the pinnacle of MacGregor iron sets by many collectors. In 1967, Penna left Macgregor and started his own golf company.
