Offered here is one of the earliest American golf trophies that we've ever offered, and also one of the most significant. Chicago Golf Club was one of the 5 founding clubs of the USGA, and hosted the 1897 US Open. This trophy is from the Open Handicap tournament that was held during the 1897 US Open week. Produced by Spaulding Silver Co. 10.5" diameter on a 5" base and 4.5" tall. 1 lb, 8 ounces.
