This historic photograph depicts the first-ever meeting between Bobby Jones and Harry Vardon, which occurred at the 1920 US Open at Inverness Club. Bobby Jones was only 18 years old and playing in his first US Open, while Harry Vardon, then 50 years old, was nearing the end of his playing days and playing in his last Open.

In the 2004 movie Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius, one of the film's most memorable scenes depicts Bobby Jones meeting Harry Vardon for the first time at the 1921 Open Championship at St Andrews. Well, the offered photograph proves that the teenage Bobby Jones (3 years before his first Major victory) met Harry Vardon a year earlier at the 1920 US Open.
