Offered here is a Scotty Cameron 1996 Scottydale Project XSLC with welded neck and black oxide finish.
Vog says: Wow, this putter has finally resurfaced after being locked away in a collection for the better part of two decades. I know, because I once owned it and is featured in my book, The Art of Putting, the Scotty Cameron story. I acquired it from the manager of the Edwin Watts superstore (his initials are stamped in the back) in Orlando, just 5 minutes from Bay Hill. In the 90's and through the early 2000's, Bay Hill was a favorite tour spot of Scotty's and he would always come into town even though he had a tour rep on site at the same time. In 1997, Scotty gave this to the manager of the Watts store as a gift for being a supporter of his. Over about a 5 to 7-year span Scotty had brought into the store 10 to 15 one-of-a-kind tour putters for display purposes. I was probably in the store once a week and knew the staff well-and the putters even more so. Finally after about 2 years of pestering, I was able to buy this from ET. After this putter was designed and went into production- the Scottydale X-SLC - it was determined it did not conform to the rules of golf because the neck was too long, and Scotty remade a few handful of putters for the tour. On this putter Scotty cut the top of the neck off by the plumber's bend, and welded just the hosel cup to the top of the neck. He then heated the base of the neck (some discoloration of the finish still exists) to create the proper offset. As a result, this is considered to be a prototype of the slantneck. Over close to 30 years, I have seen 3 or 4 of these that were made for the tour - that's it!
Condition is near mint, only slightly used, 9.5 of 10. Correct cord grip and Cameron "black flag" headcover. 35"
