This c1860 cleek has a 5-inch hosel. The 41-inch shaft is far longer than most, plus it is pinned front to back. Evidence of the hosel weld remains on the back side of the hosel. This is always a wonderful feature to find on an iron as it is evidence of the hand-made nature of the club. Another great feature is the sawtooth nicking on the top of the hosel, which has a sharp downward taper to help affix the shaft. 

The grip on this iron is different.  The exterior layer is what was normally used as an underlisting. Underneath it is a sheepskin grip affixed directly to the shaft. This sheepskin grip is visible at the end of the shaft and a few spots under the listing where the listing has been lost.  However, I believe the underlisting was originally covered with sheepskin, as there appears to be residue of such at the base of the underlisting.
