Wow. Offered here is something that only the most ardent scholars even know exists - an original 1870 Membership Composite Photograph of the St Andrews Rose Club by famed early St Andrews photographer Thomas Rodger. St Andrews is famously home to some historic golf clubs. You've heard of The Royal & Ancient, and probably even the New Club, St Andrews Golf Club, and Thistle Golfing Society. But back in the late 1860s, the teenage Young Tom Morris and his friends did not feel like they belonged at the other clubs, and started their own club - The Rose Golf Club (full name: The St Andrews Rose Golf Club). The members included the best young golfers of the day - as well as Tommy's father Old Tom Morris and Colonel Fairlie.

This photo is dated 1870, and was created after then-19 year old Young Tom Morris won the 1870 Open for the 3rd consecutive time. By the rules of the time, these 3 straight Open Championship victories by Young Tom gave him permanent ownership of the Challenge Belt (the predecessor of the Claret Jug). In the center of this photo is Young Tom posing proudly while wearing the Challenge Belt.

Above Young Tom Morris is a (very young looking) photo of Old Tom Morris. To the left and right of Young Tom are Tommy's friends and celebrated golfers Davie Strath and 3-time Open Champion Jamie Anderson.

Quite impressively, this oval compilation photo is housed in its original frame from the 1800s. This very high quality wood frame has a raised "Far & Sure" on the top - a celebrated golf mantra in the 1800s. When we first discovered this photograph about 10 years ago, this original 1800s frame was broken in multiple places. Because of its unique size and design, it was then sent to a restoration expert to be restored and revived at considerable expense. The result is nothing short of outstanding.

13.5" x 16.5" overall, inside is 7.25 x 8.5
