Offered here is a rare, early "Scott" Cameron hand made putter. Rare sight dot on top of putter and 3 point crown.
Vog says: This is a rather rare hand made style swan neck. I have a fair share of hand made Scott Cameron putters in my collection, so I wound up giving this a good look. There are signs that might otherwise lead me to believe it has been refinished by the studio: 1. The fairly glossy look to the finish, as most of these Scott Cameron putters were not polished to a high level before the black oxide finish was applied. 2. The Scott Cameron stamping on the face does not have much or any "mushrooming," the displaced metal appearing on the edges of the stamps. This tends to go away in a refinish unless the stamps are redone.
All that said, look at the grip - it's new. These grips were no longer made after 1994 and were not available if this putter had been sent into the studio for restoration around the time of the COA. The sole has some mill chatter-remnants of the milling done to shape the putter. Sometimes this is all ground out when the putter is made-but a lot of Scotty's early hand made putters have it. Finally, the milling looks more like the original milling and not the milling we would likely see had it been refinished. All in, I have to say this putter is probably all original on top of being totally authentic per the COA.
