Offered here is one of the rarest, pre-Titleist, Scotty Cameron Milled Putter covers in existence: the famous "Red Nylon" cover.
Vog says: Scotty had covers done in vinyl (burgundy red, black and green), nylon (previous colors plus blue) and suede (green) prior to joining Titleist. He also had some very limited colors as a test that were Scott Cameron covers, distributed with his early hand made putters. This bright red nylon, according to Scotty, was one of 50 he had made. Recently, I had the chance to talk to Scotty and our chat filled in a lot of history blanks I had. One of the most common questions I've fielded in the last 30 years is what color cover goes with specific pre-Titleist Cameron putters? I had previously learned from Scotty that his Scottsman series in 1994 did not have covers included, but a nylon cover could be purchased - so I knew the nylons "went" with the Scottmans. After that, even I was clueless.
In our chat, he mentioned something I had never heard of before. He said he had a variety of colors to match the bags of the early players that used his putter. The green covers (quantity unknown but seemingly the rarest of the vinyl Scotty covers) were designed for players under contract to MacGregor. The black covers would match the Titleist bags (even before Scotty joined Titleist). I suppose the Blue Nylon covers (always seen with a Mizuno logo) were designed for the Mizuno staffers. This bright red nylon would have matched the Wilson staff bags! A 30-year mystery was solved.
In excellent used condition.
