Designed by Josh Taylor, the younger brother of JH Taylor, and covered under a British Patent dated February 20, 1912, this iron is one of only three that uses raised face scoring. Deep groove backspin irons, waffle face irons, brick face clubs, etc. have their patterns formed by removing metal from the face. On this club, however, the brambles protrude out from a solid face.
This original "Cann & Taylor" stamped shaft on this non-skid cleek measures 39 1/2" in length. The grip is old if not original. Back of the head is marked Josh Taylor, Non-Skid Cleek, Patent Applied For 4301/12.
This is a highly unusual and exceedingly rare club in great shape!
