When Gassiat putters were first produced, they were referred to as "Chantilly Putters," after Chantilly, France, the home of its inventor, the Marquis de Chasseloup-Loubat.  Jean Gassiat was the French golf professional who worked at Golf de Chantilly, in Chantilly, France. He was a champion golfer in his own right, defeating Harry Vardon in 1912 to win the French Open. Gassiat used the Chantilly putter as did others and the club took on Gassiat's name.

This particular putter bears the name of "Jean Gassiat" and "LCL Model" along with "Albert Murray Kanawaki Golf Club Montreal." This is one of the earlier original Gassiat putters. 

The club has its original 33 1/2" shaft. The red leather wrapped grip is possibly a period replacement.  The head has a full brass sole. There is a crack in the center of the face.  The initials W.S.D. are on toe.  Gassiat putters provide great visuals, as this one demonstrates
