Old Tom Morris Family Collection
In this auction, we have the extreme privilege of offering items from Old Tom Morris' personal collection that have been passed down in his family since his death in 1908. The offered items are being consigned to Golden Age by an heir of Old Tom Morris, and are being seen publicly for the very first time in this auction.
Old Tom Morris' Wife's 1863 Prestwick Medal
Offered here is an extraordinary medal that was awarded to Old Tom Morris' wife Nancy in 1863 in Prestwick. This was awarded to "Mrs' Thos. Morris" on January 1, 1863 - before the Morris family famously moved back to St Andrews the following year in 1864.
We recently discovered this medal during an overseas trip while digging through the personal effects of Old Tom Morris' heir. This historic medal was passed down in the Tom Morris family through his daughter Lizzie's family.
1 1/8" x 1 1/4". Presented by the St Nicholas Golf Club, which played at Prestwick until they moved away in 1870. Perhaps the only medal bearing Old Tom Morris' name to exist in a private collection.
