Famed painter Rembrandt Van Rijn (1606-1669) created some of the world's greatest pieces of artwork. For golf collectors, he most notably also produced an etching titled The Golf Player. Though the work is now known as The Golf Player, the original title translated from Dutch was actually The Kolf Player. Kolf, which lent it name to the modern game of golf, was extremely popular in Rembrandt's lifetime. He created the original plate for this etching in 1645, and signed it as such. That plate was later used to create original etchings - complete with Rembrandt's signature and original date. This is a fine example.
