James Hutchison Jr and his father made clubs as a sideline before going into business together. The years when all this took place are not very clear, other than they likely opened their business somewhere around 1880.

The Hutchison middle spoon shows use.  The original finish and name stamp The 37 1/2" shaft is marked with owner’s initials “GEH" and the original sheepskin is worn.

The sole has a new horn. A small amount of gray filler material was used around the toe of the horn.  As can be seen in a couple of accompanying images, this repair is small and not prominent. The sole was lightly reworked to facilitate the new horn which fits perfectly flush to the sole.

Head length 5 3/8”, width 1 13/16” face depth 1. The shallow face depth and slender neck on this putter is not typical for this time period. Very nice club.
