This iron head was made hollow and then filled with gutta percha. It appears to have a light piece of fabric melted onto the face to help hold the gutta percha together. This made it more durable when contacting the ball. There are two holes at the back of the head, at the heal and the toe, where the gutta percha inside the head can be seen. Original 42” shaft appeares to be greenheart and has a slight bow. Old leather wrap replacement grip. This iron has minimal loft much like a driver. Definitely a driving iron. The even oxidation to the surface of the metal is a non-factor to this club, as it is the oniy one known, at least to the auctioneer.
