Offered here is an early 1980's set of classic forged Jack Nicklaus limited edition MacGregor irons.

We asked our resident Scotty Cameron putter expert (and 45-year collector of classic clubs) Bill Vogeney about these. MacGregor did an identical set of these numbered 1 through 1,000, and were in incredible demand for the better part of 20 years, as they were duplicates of the forging Jack switched to in 1980, famously trading in his legendary1967-era VIP irons. Except this set is not sequentially numbered. Bill recalls seeing a single, solitary 5-iron in an independent golf shop in Orlando in the early 1990's, and wondered why it was not numbered. To this day he had not seen another iron-or set, that was un-numbered. It is quite possible fewer of these un-numbered sets were produced.
