When you deal with historical memorabilia for a living, it takes a lot for a consignment to stop us in our tracks. The offered yardage books did just that.
Without further ado...
Offered here directly from Steve Williams are Tiger Woods' actual yardage books from all 4 tournaments from the Tiger Slam.
According to Steve Williams, Tiger and Stevie each had their own yardage books for each tournament. The ones in this lot are the 4 that Tiger himself used and personally carried during each of those historic Tiger Slam rounds - the 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach, the 2000 Open Championship at St Andrews, and 2000 PGA Championship at Valhalla, and the 2001 Masters Tournament.
We previously sold a set of irons that Tiger Woods used during the Tiger Slam for a world record $5.15 million. After those irons, these are almost certainly the finest items from the Tiger Slam that will ever reach the collector market.
At the conclusion of each victory, Tiger Woods autographed each yardage book on the inside.
Here are some additional details of each of these historic yardage books: the 2000 US Open is signed by Tiger inside. Also signed by the golfers Tiger and Stevie played with each round - Jim Furyk, Thomas Bjorn, and Ernie Els. The 2000 PGA contains extensive notes on Valhalla including carry distances, widest part of fairway, and notes on the fairway and green contours. It is signed by some of their playing partners including Jack Nicklaus and Vijay Singh (1st 2 rounds), Scott Dunlap (3rd round), and Bob May (playoff). 2001 Masters book is signed by Tiger on the 2nd page. It contains 1 note on the 13th hole where a yardage on a sprinkler market is crossed out and corrected.
