Offered here is another piece of Tiger Woods history with a twist: an early 2000's Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS made for Tiger, and given to Steve Williams by Woods himself.

The consignor on this putter is Steve Williams, Tiger's longtime caddie, and caddie for 13 of his 15 major championships. We obtained a COA from Scotty's studio on behalf of Steve, and the COA states it was made for Tiger. While Steve has likely owned this for 20 years, he really doesn't know much about it other that Tiger gave it to him. So we asked our resident Cameron expert Bill Vogeney about it.

"I tend to take an archeologist-like approach when I see putters that aren't easily explainable. The head style appears to be around 2003-2005; it's not the exact head style as Tiger's gamer, but there are precious few of those around. My personal NP2 GSS that Scotty made for me in 2003 is close to this head style. Most of the Tiger backups I've seen have this version of the GSS head. It's certainly not the 2006-2008 (e) NP2 GSS made after the Cami Co-to my eye that has an even more pronounced tri sole and has a slightly different face profile. It's also not a 2014 (e) Newport 2 GSS, the first new tri-sole design after the 2006-2008 version, and 2014 is after Steve and Tiger parted ways. When I look at the stamping, the style of the stamping, and the size of the stamps, they look like putters I know where made in the 2005-2006 range. So if I had to make a guess, I'd guess this made in the 05-06 time frame."

"We can see where this putter isn't like Tiger's gamer-no vertical stamping, no big Tiger dots. But it has the Tiger neck-see how the neck sits back of the topline effectively providing less offset which allows for more toe flow-fitting Tiger's stroke. Also, look at the picture from address-we not only see the site dot, we also see the top of the neck where the hosel cup blends into the neck. See that flat line perpendicular to the leading edge? Little is talked about that Tiger putter design aspect. It's dead flat-something Tiger also insisted on. The topline is fairly thin-perhaps not as thin as Tiger's gamer, but still thinner than what might have been considered normal at the time. And of course it has the tri-sole. So what we know is the putter was made for Tiger (from the COA), he gave to it Stevie, and my educated guess is Tiger asked Scotty to make a putter for him to give to Stevie as a gift, and that's the genesis of the putter. And perhaps the most important aspect of this putter."

Length is 35", with Circle T Studio Stainless headcover, condition is near mint and likely unused but might have very minor signs of being handled or stored, 9.5+ out of 10.
