Spalding's spring face irons were produced for a number of years in America, between 1902 and 1919. The example offered here has its original 39 1/4" shaft and its original grip.
The face consists of a thin piece of spring steel held in place over a hollow head by six rivets around its perimeter.
The back of the head is stamped “Spalding CC”, the CC representing Cran Cleek as the club was originally sold as a spring face Cran cleek and covered under Jame’s Cran’s 1897 patent. The spring face is a variation on the Cran's wood face.
