Old Tom Morris  1900 Copes PSA 6mk

    Presented here is the most sought after Old Tom Morris card ever produced, from the most sought after golf card set of all time, the 1900 Copes Golfers set.  An article in PSA's Sports Market Report (June 2006 edition) refers to the 1900 Copes Golfers set as "the Mecca of all golf card sets."   The article also mentions that "singles are rare to find in any condition" and that the set is "highlighted" by the card of Old Tom Morris.  This card was the first Old Tom Morris card ever produced.  Essentially Copes issued a Tom Morris Rookie Card in 1900 - more than a generation before that term would ever be used. 

    This offering is a strong PSA 6mk. The qualifier apparently being from some light marking on the reverse that in no way detracts from the appearance of the card. Only one PSA 7 in existence and only one other PSA 6 graded at the time of this auction. In fact, 3 of the 9 graded cards in existence only grade a PSA 1 or 2.  This card is a true hobby rarity and one of the finest examples in existence.
