Historic 1909 Pebble Beach Map

            Presented here is one of the oldest Pebble Beach maps in existence.  Pebble Beach, California is an unincorporated community in Monterey County.  But Pebble Beach isn't a city; rather, it is actually a corporation owned by The Pebble Beach Company.  Therefore, since the area can't actually charge typical city taxes, Pebble Beach residents are actually charged homeowner's dues instead.  Therefore, very few old maps or references to the name "Pebble Beach" exist prior to the creation of the Pebble Beach Links.  But presented here is a vintage Pebble Beach land sales brochure from 1909.  This brochure contains a great fold-out map of the Pebble Beach area.  Amazingly, this land sales brochure pre-dates the creation and opening of Pebble Beach Golf Links by 10 years!  According to this brochure, lots could be purchased for $500-$2,000.  Those $2,000 lots are likely worth $5-$10 million or more today.  The vintage Pebble Beach map measures 16" x 9 1/4".  It is separated some at the fold, as can be expected for a map that is 100 years old.
