1954 U.S. Amateur
Contestant's Money Clip (Arnold Palmer)
Money clips have long been given out to the contestants of amateur and
professional golf tournaments,
and they have been highly sought-after by golf collectors for many years. The
market is flooded with replica money clips from golf tournaments, but this
auction presents the rare opportunity to obtain some amazing, authentic money
clips.
This is the first time that we have had the opportunity to see, let alone
auction, this spectacular money clip. This clip was given out to
contestant's of the 1954 U.S. Amateur. The clip was manufactured by Bastian Bros. of Rochester, NY, the same company that produced the early Masters badges. That itself would make this money
clip desirable for collectors, but the kid who won the tournament makes it a
great deal more special. That kid hailed from Latrobe, Pennsylvania and
his name is Arnold Palmer. Presented here is a rare item from Arnold
Palmer's 1954 U.S. Amateur victory. Very few pieces of memorabilia exist
from that tournament, and this is certainly one of the finest ever offered.
