1937 Carnoustie British Open Course Guide
Presented here is a vintage
1937 Carnoustie "Course Guide", produced for the 1937 Open Championship.
Nowadays, course guides are available for purchase in virtually every pro shop
in the world. But Carnoustie was one of the first courses to produce such
a guide. Carnoustie began this innovative approach by creating a brochure
before the 1931 Open Championship, which was held at Carnoustie. They
expounded upon this idea by creating this "Commentary" for the 1937 Open
Championship. This book tells the reader how to play each hole at
Carnoustie, and also contains some phenomenal early golf photos from the famed
course. Amazingly, the book also has a spectacular color insert map of
Carnoustie for the 1937 Open Championship. The book is in fair condition,
with some staining and hand-writing on the cover.
