Rare 1929 U.S. Amateur Ticket
Presented here is one of the only tickets in existence from the first major ever
hosted at Pebble Beach. The scarcity of this ticket is without question; over 4
decades before Pebble Beach first hosted the U.S. Open, it held the 1929 U.S.
Amateur.
In a surprise, Harrison Johnston won the Match play event, while
Bobby Jones, who won the event 4 of the previous 5 years, didn’t survive the
first round. The ticket has some flaws including a small tear, a tackhole and a
crease. Regardless, this rarely-seen ticket is one of the only known examples in
existence - a rare piece of Pebble Beach before it became a household name.
