        In 1949, Ben Hogan was nearly killed in a car accident and was told he'd never walk again. Fast forward to the 1950 U.S. Open, and the great Ben Hogan was not only walking - he was in a playoff with Lloyd Mangrum and George Fazio at famed Merion Golf Club. As we all know, Hogan went on to win the 1950 U.S. Open, as well as five more Major Championships before he retired.
